Surprise, surprise

Short breakdown of my day so far:

- Meeting to buy a vehicle tracking system for our fleet of trucks.
- Call from the CEO to take some pictures of part of the factory for some Ministry.
- Passing home to pick my camera ... and then ...

DING DONG !!! Door Bell ...
I thought it's the DVD guy is trying to sell bad copies to me or the Harris telling me to move my car or something... NO... It was 'the old one'! Almost forgot that from today on I am sharing my apartment!
She smiled, asked if Madam called me... no... she didn't... 'Ohh' she replied. 'Then you don't know?'. I had noooooo idea what she was talking about. 'I came to pick up the plants and things that we already moved in!'. 'What?!? Well ... OK ... go ahead...' I replied wondering what the hell is going on now with 'the big one' (a.k.a. 'drama queen').
So when the plants and the old one left I called the big one.
'Ohhh! guess what! Bla bla bla... I am moving to Oman! ... I can stay in my Apartment... I feel like the cow in the movie "twister" that was flying across the street... my (ex-) boyfriend will move me into another apartment and pay for it... bla bla bla... my job is going in circles... I paid school till the end of the year... the cow Evil Knievel, the cow... I am moving to Oman in June... my mother in Oman... he will pay... bla bla bla... big bucks... the embassy is looking for an apartment... I might go to 'Jamaica Apartments'... bla bla bla... plants... moving... embassy... come for coffee... thank you! bye!'.
I took only this much out of the 10 minute phone call. All I said was:' aha... OK... yes... aha.. OK... cool... OK... twister is the movie... OK... aha... let's see... you are welcome... bye...'.

OK... what ever her reasons to change her mind within the last 12 hours since I last spoke with her, it's cool with me! I offered my help since she was in need and it turned out that she found a better solution then to cramp us all into my little place. Just good that I didn't take a day off for helping her move her shit!
I didn't have too much work in preparing my part (just getting rid of everything the little one should not be exposed too) and after all of them showing up to clean, my apartment is now ready to be inspected by a U.S. Marines Drill Sergeant and getting away with only 50 push-ups (they always find something and if not they'll make something up), that's how clean it is...

What's the bad side of it?
- No maid
- No hot food when coming home
- No live entertainment at home when bored
- No more plants in my place

Whats the good side of it?
- still gonna have movie nights!!
- no female touch in my bachelors place
- spring cleaning done
- no reason to act responsible in my place (because the little one is not there)
- no standing in line at the bathroom door
- smoking still permitted everywhere
- no drama stories from the big one

So all in all... it was just another drama story from the big one... :)
May she find peace and harmony one day! :P

The 'little one', the 'big one' and the 'old one'

So my new 'room mates' will move in today and tomorrow...
After a 2.5 hour cleaning session of my bachelors apartment, buying a new vacuum cleaner and breaking some stuff, they can move in to a tidy place.
So things are going smooth so far.

The 12 year old daughter... let's call her... errrm ... 'the little one' ... already told me how to rearrange my apartment before she even moved in! Told me what colors to put on the wall and shit like this ... SCARY !!!

My friend... let's call her ... errrrm ... 'the big one' ... all of a sudden became really religious when helping to prepare my apartment... she went like:"Jesus Christ!" and "Oh my god!" and "Oh Lord!". I had to tell her that words like these are not really welcome in my house ... I try to keep it free from ANY religion! But besides that she only suggested to put up a few pictures and plants which is cool with me as long asit's cars or girls in the pic. :P

The maid ... let's call her ... errmm ... 'the old one' ... was just smiling and cleaning her way to glory... and surprise surprise she didn't break anything! Which is kinda unusual!

OK ... this sounds really bad! It sounds like my apartment never seen a broom or mop. IT DID!!! I GUARANTEE !!! I personally used them! But I guess my sense of clean is not compatible with my new roomies. :P

Let's see what my apartment looks like when they leave and how much work I'll have getting it back to a bachelors place with NO feminin touch!

Roomie's and DVD

I thought about having a room mate for a long time but enjoyed my freedom more then the idea of paying less rent and having company. Besides, my apartment ain't that big and is not thaaaat expensive. 2 bedrooms very close to Salmiya for 240KD is half way decent.
Now, I don't need to think about it anymore since I offered a friend in need to stay at my place for a while. We know each other for a little over 3 years and I get along very well with this friend. Initially I thought about my friend only and not the kid and the maid that comes along with it. But what the heck...it's for max. 2 months and we can arrange somehow and the maid comes quite handy in my bachelors place! I just hope she leaves my DVD's and CD's alone and doesn't pile them up like my last maid did. Every time she cleaned, I had to sort my DVD's into 'good copy' / 'bad copy' / 'haven't seen yet' again.
I am hardly at home anyways and just go there to sleep / shower / play PS3 / watch TV / change and that's it.
I didn't life with a room mate for at least 3 years and back then I really liked it. But it was just one! Now it is 3!
Today we'll start cleaning out one of my bedrooms to make room for the daughter and the maid (both of them will need to share this room). I will give up my bedroom for my friend and crush on the couch (what I do anyways since most of the time I fall asleep watching TV).
I am pretty sure it will work out for the expected time frame of max. 2 months.

This means that there will be no DVD sessions at my place anymore. :(
The other place where we used to do that also doesn't exist anymore since they moved out ...
Anyone who wants to offer his private home theater to a bunch of nice guys and girls?!? We are not very demanding... 5.1 surround sound... min. 50" LCD or Plasma... comfy couch... clean blankets... enough to drink and eat... that's all we need! If we could smoke there, that would be a plus. We would come like every 2 weeks for one evening (or night) and most of the time clean up the mess we'll leave. Of course you could watch with us if we like you! :P
Just leave a comment if you fulfill the above requirements... :)

I hate Monday's !

I used to say that when still living in Germany since this would be the first working day of a week. When working over here, that changed to "I hate Saturdays". Well ... Today that changed. I had my day off yesterday... but today I hate Monday not for the fact that I am back at work... I hate it because someone close to me is leaving Kuwait.

I know this guy for at least 18 years... we been thru a lot of ups and downs together... from learning German over not talking to eachother for 3 years because I took his girlfriend to working together in Kuwait.
He is more or less happy to go back (can't really blame him) and is always smiling when he is speaking of the unavoidable flight back to Frankfurt. But me and some of the new friends he made here will miss him.
- How can I win in tablesoccer (or baby foot like it's called here) without him?
- Who can I bug for "high" Arabic words now?
- Who will go fishing with me now?

Well ... I'll survive it for sure ... but I am definitely not happy about the circumstances that made him leave Kuwait.

The only good thing today so far is ... the roads where empty and I only had to brake once for a truck and once for a pick-up on my way to work ... :P
